Bookshelf speaker choice conundrum

The Infinity Speakers were sort of a spin off from Acoustic Research in the beginning.

I remember the Servo Static being their flagship in early days, nothing much there of AR.

IIRC Servo Statiks were the first Infinity speakers and for a while their only speakers. Stereophile reviewed them in 1968.

Infinity still makes very good speakers they're just for your car.

BTW, she just got home from her summer holiday tonight and got her surprise. I just "happened" to be there visiting her father asling to borrow something when she and her Mom arrived. It took a minute or two before she walked into her bedroom and found her first turntable and stereo system all set up for her. There was also a few old LPs there that I bought from the guy who sold me the turntable. She was so surprised!! Absolutely ecstatic. She couldn't wait to be shown how to load the album on the turntable and drop the needle and squealed with absolute joy when she heard the first sounds come out of the record albums she'd been collecting and hadn't been able to play yet. Very happy moment in a young girl's life. I videoed the whole thing with my phone for posterity.

At Christmas I hope to surprise her again with a much better set of speakers which that system sorely needs. It will be fun to get into a pair and do some modding to make them better for her.

We often get lost in the minutia of the upgrades and modifications and forget the pure joy that comes from hearing your first stereo system for the first time. That experience trumps all the other (musical gear) stuff, and you provided that. Good on you!
Not that my opinion matters, but I think you're on the right track with letting her hear the system for a few months and then providing the upgrade. If she's the sort to hear the difference, she'll be hooked.

My first system was a cheapo Sears all-in-one I got at 10. I thought it was amazing! Imaging and soundstage weren't even on the radar, and that was just fine.

So these are the S7 speakers. It looks like they're a later version with the SL-2000 tweeters, not the ones with the Peerless. They have black cabinets.

Both have dented dust caps on the woofers. Is that a big deal?

What years were this version made? How likely is it that the foam rings on the woofer and passive radiator will be deteriorated and will need replacement in the near future?

Does this version have the fuse on the tweeter that needs to be removed?

What are the recommended mods for this version? Re-capping obviously But what else?
