Bored......So I made a head shell holder !!!

Used a left over pice of Bamboo flooring I used for my AR XB.

First I laid out the distance for the holes to see how many I could fit.

Now mind you this was a quick project out of boredom so It could have been thought out better.

Then I drilled out those holes with a 5/16th drill bit. I then used a 1/16 bit to drill the alignment pin slots
that are on the collet. All of my head shells have one pin, some have two pins so make adjustments for that at the opposite side.

As I said I didn't plan it out well so at first I made the slot holes at 6 o'clock . The I realized they wouldn't fit next to each other. Some lift arms are longer etc ....

So I made the top row at about 5 o'clock and the bottom row at 7 o'clock.

I think it turned out ok and not they aren't lying down on the amp case. :beerchug:

This was a quick project that took me maybe 20 -30 minutes .

Just to see how I would do it.

I made a headshell case out of a cheese display thingy I found at Goodwill for a couple dollars.

Similar to this:

All I had to do was drill some holes in it. I put 8 holes in a circle and one in the center. I wish I had put two side by side in the center so I would have had room for an even ten, but too late now.

What size drill bit did you use for the 1/2” headshell bayonettes?
I’ve got so many different headshells and carts i need to build something like this too to keep them organized.

Very creative....
 
I did mine slightly differently. I don't remember the size, but I drilled a hole slightly bigger than necessary, and tapered the top of the hole. The whole part of the headshell that goes into the tonearm fits into the hole and the back flat part of the headshell rests on the wood. I didn't think about doing it the correct way like the OP did.

I'm not a woodworker, just a redneck with a drill.:)

@Nashou66 - outstanding work here. One of the best I've seen. Like the fact the headshells are facing in different directions on each side. Your right about a drill press. I bet that bamboo was a bear to get into. Hard wood.

Where on lake Erie? My restaurant is just a mile or so from Woodlawn Beach. Not a great beach but its a beach none the less ! :D

Actually it wasn't too bad. I plan to use some more of the Cumaru wood I gave to @Andre Garcia who made my head shells with it. And that wood is much more difficult to work with.
