Can anyone tell me which wire color going to each woofer is positive and which is negative? I'm assuming the neutral color is negative and the bright color is positive but I'm just not sure. Bought them disconnected

In the series II there are 2 terminal versions and 3 terminal versions (the wire hook-up on the rear). The 3's are not very common so I will assume you have the 2 terminal version.

The woofers are wired in series.

Front woofer + gets Yellow.
Front woofer - gets gray

Top woofer + gets gray (other end from front woofer -)
Top woofer - gets green

If you do have the 3's, they are much more complicated but I do have the schematic if you need it.

Good luck.

Thank you! I was wondering why they didn't sound that good, I'm pretty sure I wired them out of phase! Lol

Somewhere here there is a lengthy thread, where I mention my full rebuild.

I was astonished at the sound these things created. They're still here, tho dormant for a year or so. Lots of great info on that thread.

Thanks again reverb! Man what a difference! I had a pair of series 1s in the past and I knew there was some low end missing and man was there!

I'm curious, when you say " full rebuild " did you do anything with the grills? As far as the fabric? If so do you have pics of what you did?

Man, I love the 601s, series I and II.....

LOVE them.
IMO, the best Bose are the
601 1,2,:
10.2 (with either 6 or 10 swapping place depending on the day)
901: 1,2, etc etc.
6.2: then the
301 I, II, and III.

Everyone's opinions are different, though.

I wish Bose would come out with some new floor-standing speakers. Maybe just updated versions of the older ones. I'd be fine with that! New 601's!, 701's! And how about a Series VII 901? Sign me up!

I didn't recall Bang & Olufsen making a model 601, then I realized you were either making a little joke by typing Bo's instead of Bose, or you used "talk to text" on your phone and Siri isn't an audiophile!

After washing the fabric carefully with a little Dawn and soaking in the tub, I did a lil' trick - sprayed the cloth with Armor All.

Worked like a charm.

If the fabric is ripped, not sure what to tell you. I replaced the resistors, since those leads were brittle, but the caps were nice poly's, so they stayed.

I'll dig, see if I can find that thread. Pics are there.
