Bose 301 vs 201 Comparison

Hey all! So I have a small personal setup that I need new speakers for. I currently have the opportunity to grab an old pair of 301 series I for $90, or a new pair of 201 series IV + a V-100 center speaker both together for $90 as well. Which would be the better choice for bedroom listening?

301's have a larger woofer, and will likely play deeper bass notes. If it's a Series I, the woofer foam is probably shot and will need replacing. As I recall, the Series I also allowed you to rotate the tweeter through 90 degrees, from front to side, to tune the image width to the room.

Unless you need the center speaker for video, I'd go with the 301's.

No comparison. 301's of any series are way better, although series 2's and 3's are my favorites.

I have a pair of series lll 301's that I use in my bedroom. The 301's are the better speaker. As stated above Check the surrounds on those series 1's first and check that the tweets are working as well.
