Hi; Guys
I hope that some can help me out.
I'm having trouble with the DVD player not reading the disc. It reads
Bad Disc. I tried cleaning the laser.
I took out the DVD Rom drive out .
The laser looks like it reads the disc.
I can replace the DVD Drive if I can
find one to replace it with without it
costing to much. It has a Tashiba model SM-M1612 drive. I read that
are the same ones they use in
computers. Please let me know if
you can help.

Call Bose up. They are generally well known to have great customer service. They might even give you a new one for not too much.

Thanks for your idea. But I can't afford to buy a new one. I'm not working and can't
spend that kind of money. Unless there is a fellow AKer that is willing to look at it
for me. I would be very thankful if that could happen.

Check to see that the laser can completely move back and forth, if it uses rails for the laser mechanism. Sometimes some lube is needed on the rails because the laser cannot slide back and forth completely.

Yes the laser does move back and forth. I also checked to see if the laser light was
working. Thank you for your input any little thing could help. I'll keep checking back
to see if anyone added to this post. I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
