Bose 4.2 Ser II vs. Bose 301 Ser III

I happily owned a pair of Bose 301 Ser III speakers and would have to say they probably would not be consider Hi-Fi
to some But I liked the pair I had a lot. I had to part, or was parted with those cherished 301's and although I have a
lot of other speakers I am considering getting another pair of the Ser lll or possibly a pair of 4.2 Ser ll's if it would be
an upgrade to the 301 Ser lll's?
If there are fellow AKers with comparative knowledge or experience of these speakers, please endulge me with your
thoughts on the comparison. Thanks!

I prefer the 4.2’s.They had real teak veneer, heavier cabinets, and a better port system. The tweeters were a little better too. Pretty much the last speaker designed by Bose before releasing the craptastic 701’s and acoustimas derivatives.
