Bose 802 speakers

My son bought some bose 802 speakers from his church garage sale,three for twenty five bucks.Downside is they say it has to be used with a bose equalizer.Anyone know if I can hook these up to an ordinary stereo?They have 1/4 inch jacks on the back and I have been all over the internet trying to find answers.Am I wasting my time?Unload them and move on?I have two bose floor speakers on my unit right now and they rock.Thanks for any help,Robert E.

Pretty much useless without the proper equalization contour. Depending on when they were made they may have foam surrounds. Look for signs of rot. I don't know if the eq curves are the same or not, but a 901 eq box may work with it.

Well, if you can dial this in with something, then you should be close. If nothing else, it may help visualize what the sound will be like without the EQ.

Blue curve is similar to these numbers I found in a different AK thread I linked in below.

20 Hz = -5 dB
30 Hz = -1 dB
40 Hz = +3 dB
60 Hz = +14 dB
100 Hz = +5 dB
200 Hz = +1 dB
600 Hz = 0 dB
800 Hz = 0 dB
1 kHz = + 1dB
2 kHz = + 4 dB
3 kHz = + 5 dB
4 kHz = + 8 dB
6 kHz = + 11 dB
10 kHz = + 15dB
15 kHz = + 17 dB

Without the EQ, the sound would seem to be strong midrange, with the stereotypical "no highs, no lows, must be Bose" sort of thing going on.
