.....stand on whatever you want, TL, you didn't live the era and own a 901 system, did you?....seems like you're looking for an arguing contest which doesn't work very well here at AK....I lived the era and had the system being discussed....your turn.....
I still don't understand what your point is...
No, I did not live the era, and no I have never owned, nor will I likely ever own a pair of Bose 901, 301, or anything with the Bose name on it. I guess my point is that you can justify anything. If you believe you own a piece of audio Nirvana, then damn it, you do. I do not go looking for an "argument contest" like you accuse me of, but rather I would like to hear some sort of logical reason why anyone would justify the so-called "audiophile" characteristics of an inferior product like the Bose 901? So far all I have heard is justification for the shortcomings of the speakers. My point is that you can justify anything.
So arguing doesn't work well on AK, as you have stated..... and you are right. For the most part what works well on Audio Karma is misinformation and puffery. I have a (fill in the blank) piece of equipment, and I am looking for other people who believe that the (fill in the blank) is the best, or highly desirable, or at least passable in some way in order to justify my own purchases, possessions, and existence. So in order to feel good I seek out sycophants that will reinforce what I already believe. What is that? Mental masturbation, in my book.
In the words of Zilch, more data, less wank. Bose is, was, and always will be a bunch of wank.
