I'm not by any means trying to persuade anyone to "like Bose speakers" I explained in previous comments that the title of this thread was meant to be a joke. I've posted a lot on here and normally get little response. This shows the power of "click bait"! I honestly did not expect the response that this thread got. I likeGuess what? I've never heard a Bose speaker I've ever liked. So what? Not liking them doesn't mean I hate them. I'm simply not impressed with their sound. There are plenty of other speakers I don't particularly like. Just as there are lots of speakers I do like. However, you won't find me posting on AK or anywhere else about how much I like or dislike "whatever" and how good they aren't. You can't force your preferences on someone else.
You like 901's. I and many others don't. Why not leave it at that? To answer your unasked question, Yes, I've heard them properly set up with adequate power driving them. I still don't like them..

Hindsight is 20/20.. lol I've learned (the hard way) that people take things really serious on here.. sarcasm is hard for people to detect online.. I should probably throw an lol at the end of my sarcasm to save myself from getting piled on in the future.. you're right though I did set myself up with that title.. again sarcasm on the internet needs reinforcement (lol or emoji).. lesson learned.
Does the
does your vintage amp have preouts and does the Optimus Sub have Speaker inputs? If the amp has a preout i would use that, you don't want to use the tape out because it's a fixed output. The preout would be a variable output. If no preouts on amp use the speaker inputs for the sub. That way when you adjust the volume it will turn down the sub too. I'm guessing you might of had the sub hooked up by tape out which will be a set volume and can't be turned down. If you have to use the tape out just turn the sub all the way down and turn the volume to like
1 or 2 and it should be ok.
Why do they make passive subs? So users can select their own means of amplification. Some, like me even make their own passive subs purchasing raw drivers, build the cabinets, then supply the power.I have passive Optimus sub still not in use haha , afraid to kill my vintage amp using ampnto power the sub . My onkyo 818 sent the sub too much bass almost killed it had to unhook it .why do they even make passive subs ?
Well anything beats dreadful tv speakers , older Bose was supposedly good until microspeakers arrived I cranked those up at circuit city they sounded bloated so I later bought my current system 7ch with 2 extra for 9ch which are unused . It’s somewhere on members systems but I’m unsure were or how to find it .
I haven’t heard any proper set up Bose . muggswiggs coffee shop oddly had a pair of floor standers up really high like weird but sounded good enough.
He prefers SasquatchAnd no Bigfoot sightings. What's up with that?
I dig this little dude . It and Spotify make the day fly and interesting threads like this one!I'm not by any means trying to persuade anyone to "like Bose speakers" I explained in previous comments that the title of this thread was meant to be a joke. The 901s they sound good. But I also have several much much better speakers. I've learned sarcasm doesn't go over well on here if you don't add an lol or some emoji. I admit it was a click bait title and apologize if it annoyed anyone!
Handsome lad!Me and my 15 month old son Mikey are coming up with the evidence as we speak. If anyone can debunk the haters it will be this guy..
And really that was the thing!! And really right there ... was/is the thing "Haters" ( and I was one) can hang their hats on! Cuz you know if 901's are so great?/ They why can't you measure on the same standards everyone uses??"You can't measure our speakers conventionally because they're not conventional speakers."
<snip>
Now while I still believe that is a valid argument?? The bottom line is ... people don't listen to measurements, they listen to music! And unless you always and only listen to live "Classic Music" ... it's all coming thru some means of "electrical reproduction" anyway?? So whatever, I say let the haters, hate! It keeps prices "depressed!" A pair of 901's where I am are relatively inexpensive or you know cheap. A pair of K-Horns ... not so much.
It is what it is ... in the "real world" ... a Toyota Prius, can get me to work ... just as "efficiently" as a Bugatti Veyron. In stop and go traffic, 0 to 60 does not really matter??![]()
LOL, well I forgot about car audio?? Top of my head Bose GM and Altec Lansings or the only two "names" that I am familiar with in car audio??Yep.
And I see you mention a car. Imagine the delightful commute we would have if drivers refused to drive themselves anywhere because their car didn't offer Klipsch, Dynacos, Advents, JBLs, et al as optional speakers. How did we manage with no-name speakers attached to the AM/FM radios in our cars?
LOL, well I forgot about car audio?? Top of my head Bose GM and Altec Lansings or the only two "names" that I am familiar with in car audio??
But "Advent??" What auto manufactures uses them???
Well it's not really a matter of "Debunking" anything?? I know Vetts use "Bose." And I have seen Altec lansing, in some cars??Mercedes uses H/K and Burmester, Jaguar uses B&W and Meridian.

PS Debunk this![]()
Yes, that's the thing. Bose stores and Bose displays are strictly set up and controlled by Bose. But how many people can set up their room to mimic that setup? Remember the Bose Acoustomass systems with the rear speakers cantilevered out and up on arched poles behind the chair that's bolted to the floor? Positioning is critical for any system. Bose takes it to a new level. Sounds cool in the store though.I heard a pair of 901's at a Bose store and they were amazing .
