There is a nice looking set on the local CL, overpriced but got me wondering in case the price comes way down. Need to say am a fan of full range single driver speakers, hence the following. Did some digging and found that these were the reason for the founding of The Absolute Sound mag. Holt bought a pair based on a glowing review elsewhere and considering the price he was more than underwhelmed. So he started an "honest" mag. I did get to hear 20 pairs of these in the sound system in the planetarium at Boston Museum of Science. Powered by a big stack of Phase Linear. Donated by Bose. They played some David LaFlame it rocked. But that was a fabulous, acoustically, space. Where this is going is, I always thought that the eq was at best a mediocre piece of gear. I had picked one up at a yard sale for $5 just to play with it, it was really good at taming 40-1197 aka FE 103. But the detail and life was gone. Hence " every song sounds the same on 901's " Has anyone ever used a modern clean graphic, like Behringer DEQ, which BTW as a D/A killed my Krell, and found these old 901 are really nice full range??? Bonus!!!!! Raise your hands if you saw the AR display in the lobby of the Pru, with a woofer excursionating a quarter inch at about 5 hz just to show how deep an AR could go. c1975.
