BOSE 901, without BOSE EQ?

Hmm, I've been wondering what I'm gonna do with my pair of series V with no EQ. I have a Crown amp with built in DSP that has parametric EQ functions, and delivers 400wpc into 8ohm. Any advice how to set the PEQ?

I think you have to use the Crown/Harman System Architect software (something like that anyway) to build the curve and load it into the amp.

May be able to get somewhat close if there is enough boost range but that is where most non-Bose solutions fall short - don't have ability to get the 18dB or so of boost.

Other than that, with a little Google action (I think they've been posted on AK), you can find images of the curves to get a good jumping in point for modeling. Envision a curve that appears roughly in the shape of a bathtub with 15-18dB boost at both ends.

If you got really froggy, sweep the installation with REW and build the correction curve based on that.

The first time I heard the 901's was in the frat house in college. We had a big ole century house with tall ceilings....and in the living rm....there was a pair hanging from the ceiling...in the corners opposed to each other. This was 1974-78.

I was awe struck for sure....I mean I stood there with my jaw on the floor.... Dark Side Of The Moon. They were cranking and the goose bumps were heavy. I have never forgotten that moment.....
