Bose 901's for $50

Theres a set of bose 901's for sale here. Need refoam but the eq is missing. (I had a set of series 6 without eq and know they suck without it). If they had stands it would encourage me more to pick these up. Thinking about picking these up should I???

I just sent the guy a message saying if you misplaced the eq and can find it I would be interested in buying them. Is a refoam job easy??

I refoamed a pair of 12" drivers for a pair of AR-3a. I was really nervous and read everything I could on refoaming. Turned out that it was a lot easier than I expected and now not afraid to take on another refoam job, in fact looking forward to the next one. A very rewarding experience.

I don't know anything about 901s so no help there. Good luck :thmbsp:

A normal refoam isn't too difficult if you're just doing 2 woofers. The 901s have lots of drivers in them and you might want to look at what's involved with the surround kits for them.
 
Refoam kits will run you between $40-50 then you need to refoam all 18 drivers so its a bit of a job. But for $50 I think they are worth it, there are equalizers on ebay and craigs list all the time.
 
Sitting on the fence on this one. A complete set of bose 901s with stands go for about 600 bucks here. So $50 for the speakers / $70 for the foam kit / eq $100 / stands $100. So I would be into them for over 300 bucks. If i can track down an eq for cheap i will pick these up.
 
I refoamed a set of 901's-well almost.

I cannot, for the life of me, get the grill cloth off the front. Staples out, but someone must have gone crazy with the glue, cause they just will not budge.

16 for 18 just don't do it.

Hope you have better luck. The other 16, took about 3 evenings, about 2hours each time. Not all that difficult, and small cones/big spiders mean little chance to mis align the surrounds/cones.
 
I would take a chance at $50 but as mentioned, you will be refoaming 18 drivers, not just a couple.
