I picked these up on Thursday. Definitely a project so the price was considerably less than the ask, but I’m going to see what early 901 with an equalizer sound like. Tops and bottoms need refinishing and the fabric is stained so at sometime I’ll make them naked and see what the surrounds look like...

Also met a musician in a new local Chicago band (the seller) and included in the sale was their first album. Pretty good in a psychedelic type of way!

Surrounds will be fine. All cloth. Series ones are the good ones, but super inefficient. Throw a metric crap ton of power at them and position them right and they are great for filling the room.

Will any of the tulip stands work for them?

Do you need a EQ too, from research online it looks like a series I or II will work,can anyone confirm this.

MUST have a Series I or II eq. If you do take the covers off, I'd suggest re-sealing the surrounds with the same sealant used for other cloth surrounds; it will tighten up your deep bass significantly. Vintage-ar is the seller on eBay.

Very true about the power needs. Each subsequent revision was more efficient so series ones must be power sponges. Plus have you ever seen the Bose 1801 amp that they sold to complement them? Monster 100 pound-ish beast.

No way I’m going to spend $200+ on stands for a project... so while I doubt that anyone comes across a pair of tulip stands, no matter how ugly, if you do, please let me know! Thanks.

It's an easy recap on the eq, and recommended. I think there are about a dozen caps in total, and its easy to get the board out.

Serious on the fish net. It is cheap and works well. These sound better up high. hang em.

Thanks to the last 3 posters input. The listening room is undergoing renovation but if I don't have a set of stands by then, I'll certainly hand them and I like the fishnet idea. Curious as to where I would go to get the caps necessary to recap the eq. Thanks.
