These are Bose 501s I’ve asked Bose
of course they have no clue how is that possible probably because the 22-year-old who reads their forums or answering the messages is too young to know
Woofer foams aside what’s throwing me are the volume controls on the back and the front end tweeter there are no tags or labels
There are a pair of mids on each side anyone seen these before

Those are Frankenstein speakers. Bose never used Philips vintage tweeters. Looks like someone has just tried to keep the music going.

grills are not original, grill cloth looks like some type of upholstery fabric. originals had tweed.

To my knowledge, Bose never made a 3 way speaker. Full range and 2 way were all they offered.

It's impossible to say if the "improvement" improves or hurts the sound, but it's fairly well executed Frankensteining. It would be pretty cool if these speakers turned out to be Bose test prototypes (no, I'm not above starting conspiracy theories ).
