Boston Acoustics A200 - wow!

I re-read this thread again and have done some moving of gear since then, probably my final move. My Boston A150's are paired with a Marantz 2330 and Altec 345A tube amp. Just above them sit Polk 10A's driven by a Yamaha CR-2020. I give a very slighr edge to the Yamaha/ Polk combo although it's not true in every case.
The 3D Acoustics sub has been moved upstairs and mated with it's 3D satellites driven by a Marantz 4270. It's arguably the best sounding system I have to my ears. That 3D sub continues to impress me. Having said all that I think the difference in room acoustics make all the difference. But due to the decor and my wife's wishes smallish speakers prevail. No complaints but I'd like to hear what my A150's sound like in the upstairs room. I don't feel I'm getting the most out of them where they are. I've also had A70's, A60's and HD5's. very listenable speakers but fall short of my A/D/S 520's. Again, probably placement as I've never A/B tested them in the same place driven by the same amp.
I enjoyed going back and re-reading this old thread. A lot of respected personal observations on the Bostons.

Well let me rephrase the "warm" thing.

The power supply runs burning hot in the CR-2020. No matter whats hooked up. The output heatsinks never get hot. The amp side never breaks a sweat.

And my bedroom is fully carpeted, with of course a plush bed. and quilts hanging on the walls. Brightness is not and issue at all in this room.

But now you have me worried about the 4 ohm load. I do not want to kill the 2020. I kinda like it. Alot. I might drag my spare M-70 amp in there with my old Onkyo preamp and see how that combo sounds.
Sounds like you have the perfect room for that combo - I would've liked to have that option!

You know, I can't say as you'd hurt the CR-2020...clearly, people (including myself) have used them with difficult speakers, including these. Like most good equipment of that era, they were overbuilt beyond the specs. I'm just saying, from the perspective of a great amp that's getting somewhat long in the tooth, it could potentially be a problem down the road - or not!

I have owned (3) pr A150's, pr A200's and pr A400's. Sold all except the A200's. They are open, clear, good bass, realistic and engaging. Test amps were Stereo 70, Quicksilver Monos and Marantz 8b. Also compared A200's with Proac Tablette 2000's, ADS 910's, Heresy's, Celestion A Compact's and others. The A200's are special. Wish I could move up.. but have not heard better under $2,000. Would like to know if a nice pr of ADS 1090's or 1290's are superior to the A200's for Blue Note jazz. The A200's are narrow, not rear ported, can go against a wall and are not sensitive to position.
Recommended.
