Boston ID?

dc270

Now Off the Reservation
I am not much of a Boston follower, can anybody ID these for me. Are they worth collecting? They have been in the local CL for a while so I am thinking they are perhaps not one of the better Boston models is why they have remained unsold!

Thankz for your knowledge and input here.

I believe those are the T-1030. The T-830 was pretty well reviewed. This is its bigger brother.

Hi DC!
Yea, I believe Dave is correct, in that, those are the bigger brother of the T-830s.

I have also heard that they are pretty nice sounding & I like the wood cabs. They have been on CL for awhile so you may get a good deal on them.

I think those are T-1000. A few years earlier than the T-1030. They have the same drivers, but the mid and tweeter position is switched in the T-1030 I believe.

Those are indeed T-1000's.

Boston purists prefer the A150 and A200 rather than the 'tower' design of the T-830, T-930, and T-1000/1030. They don't go terribly low (~42hz) and some dislike the midrange output. I have a pair--I upgraded from T-830's--and I quite like them. I've owned nearly every other early Boston speaker except for the A-150/A-200/A-400, so I have a sense of what a decent early Boston speaker should sound like.

Those look to be real wood, not vinyl, which would have put their retail price at $1200/pair IIRC in ~1990 (when mine were made). Be aware that the foam on the woofers may be rotted.
