Bottlehead SEX recommended speaker pairing?

I am trying to find a good set of speakers that pair well with a Bottlehead S.E.X. I originally planned to buy a pair of Esquires for the amp but unfortunately I lost the auction. Esquires do not seem to come up for sale very often so I am looking for alternatives.
(Max budget is $400)
What speakers would pair well with a Bottlehead S.E.X. amp?

High 90s sensitivity (or higher!) and benign impedance curve ("easy to drive") will be superb.
I knew an builder/owner of the original S*E*X amp that used his with Klipsch Chorus (unsuffixed) way back when -- the combination was very good.

Numerous vintage Electrovoice models would work well and sound great -- not always easy to find, though.

Personally -- and having owned and used both I'd recommend vintage Altec over Klipsch, but the latter are easier to find and cover a wider range of prices.

There are some modern high-sensitivity loudspeakers at reasonable prices, too.

Are any of the numbered series of Electrovoice (EV 4,5,6,7,8 etc.) worth buying? I have seen mixed things which initially led me away from them and towards the esquires.

Well, I am way partial to the Esquires. I would think any of the speakers in that line would be great; but the Esquires are the only ones I've actually owned.

I had a pair of EV Fours and I was quite disappointed by them. They looked really nice, though -- and some folks do like them.
I am not one of those folks. :(
