Bottom-ported 3-ways?

HiFi in WYO

The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest.
These seem to have the smallest logo in the history of speakers. Any clues?

"HI - THIS IS AN OLDER SET OF 3 WAY 12" SPEAKERS ... THEY HAVE A UNIQUE DESIGN ... THE PORT FOR THE WOOFER IS ACTUALLY ON THE BOTTOM ... NICE DEEP BASE AND FULL SOUND - YOU JUST CANT GET THE SAME SOUND ON TODAYS "SURROUND-SOUND" SPEAKERS ..."

I assume they mean the bottom of the front baffle, which is not that unusual. Rather than the bottom of the cabinet, which would not work very well sitting on the floor like that. :D

Or a bung... well, you know.

Sorry for completely destroying this thread. :worried: Oh, wait. It's my thread. Nevermind.

Three things:

1.) The seller can't spell the word bass, at least the version of the word he meant to use.
2.) JW Davis speakers are nice, but I wouldn't go screaming down the highway to get a pair... unless you just want to collect Dallas brands. I have a pair for that reason.
3.)I've seen a few models of JW Davis speakers that have a large hole in the bottom on the cabinet and usually have legs or some sort of riser. It's not so much of a port, as it is open-baffle-ish like many of the speaker designers were doing in the late 1950's and early 1960's. This look newer than that, so maybe JWD just kept on going with what worked for them?!?

Wow, small world. This exact pair is sitting in my listening room now. same seller. they are j.w. davis and they do sound nice. yes they use feet on the bottom to keep off the floor. the bottom opening is not a port. its actually really useless if you ask me. I tried a temp seal on them. no difference in sound whatsoever. however, I wish this pair was a ported design to get better bass response but oh well, they sound great otherwise. I paired them with a jamo sw500 passive sub and the sound is very pleasing. I would, however, like to get a model # for these if there is one. this pair has everything original and on the back is the stapled tag but has no specs on it. just a little paragraph about the speaker and that's it. if anyone knows what model these are or have specs Id love to hear from you. im posting a nicer photo of them. I cleaned them up and look very nice for the age.

Model number? I've seen very few jwd speakers with model numbers on them. No clue how they identified some of their stuff?!?
