i meant to order GE JAN 5654W and accidentally ordered GE JAN 5725W tubes. Out of curiosity, what are these used for?

The 6AS6 is a physically small amplifier pentode. Through holes in the anode plates can be seen the outer two grids. Both wound on notched rods and both rounded at the ends and flattened across the anode width. The cathode assembly is also a flattened tube.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 35 mm tall.
Reference: Datasheet. Type 6AS6W was first introduced in 1960.

maybe some others could give an example of what uses because i never heard of it before.

The 5725 / 6AS6 has a separate connection for the suppressor grid, which is wound with a tighter pitch than most pentodes, so it can be used as a gain control element. It can be used as an RF mixer or modulator. I suppose that it could be used in an audio compressor, though I don't know about distortion. If pins 2 and 7 are connected together in the circuit, it would "work" in place of 6AK5 / 5654, though it has much lower transconductance and operating point may not be anywhere near optimum (since 2 and 7 are internally connected in the 6AK5, either pin could be used and the other left unconnected - in this case, the 6AS6 would NOT operate).
