Bowers & Wilkins... anybody noticed this?

I've got 3 pair of B&W speakers. The 805S and the CDM1 SE both have stationary dust caps (they don't move when the speaker diaphragm does). The diaphragms move in and out around them. It's very cool to watch. And I've noticed that the dust cap on the CDM1 SE can be grabbed (gently) and unscrewed! I don't have the nerve to remove it completely, but if you have a pair give them a twist clockwise and see if they don't tighten up. Both of mine did.

I gently grabbed the ones on the 805's but they didn't budge.

Any comment/explanations?

They seem to be 'phase plugs' not dustcaps. They don't move; they're there to 'shape' the soundwaves the cones produce.
