Box of Tapes - Worth Much?

So on my trek of getting my Dad's Sony TC-255 running (run cap and various rubber parts on their way in the mail) - I've been looking at his tape reels. Here is a box of music artist I know - I am looking forward to listening to most of these, especially 2001 Space Odyssey. Sadly, the Sony does not sound so, even taking the slow/wrong speed into account.

I would think the real value is that they were your Dads.
My Dad only ever owned the albums of one artist , Ernest Tubb. I wish I had some of those albums.... but I don't know what happened to them.
But if you choose to sell them, and that is the premise of your Worth question:
If you want to the maximum capitalized/realized price, put them on Ebay in individual auctions and see what you get.

OR

Spend $25, list them in Bartertown , participate in the Audio Cycle of Audio Karma , and have fun.

.

naw, not for sale - just wondering really. Plus I can tell my kids, hey these are not trash and don't just throw them out when I kick the bucket LOL

Santana and Miles could be a good listen too. I take it that the tapes you've listened to so far have played without issue?

Santana was/is awesome - I been jam'n to that! Mostly yes of the pre-recorded stock. Dad's home made records on Scotch Tape, which some the music track listing is written on US Navy letterhead paper are in poor shape (these are mono, each track used for a different song) - these are 65~67 recordings. The Bill Cosby tape seems like a loss but then again I know it got massive play (I know some parts of Chick Heart by memory).

I can clearly tell the most played tapes, which are in poorer shape (like Peter Paul Mary). But Johnny, Santana, Aretha, Hank, Rascals play perfectly :)

Right now my head exploding trying to get Aretha Side 1 on label side of its reel - Dad got it flipped somehow on its reel. Finally got it sorted using a extra take up reel and getting my logic correct. Clearly I am not as smart as I thought I was LOL

Fake Stereo? I have not listened to Aretha yet, that only list. I just love listen to Cash!
All of the Sun stuff would have been mono recordings. They later "rechanneled" those tapes for stereo releases. Your box is labeled "stereo", so it is likely fake stereo.

i have found that the Animals Animalism is a mighty fine album (I even remember my mom singing or quoting "hit the road, jack" lol!
