Bozak 302-A’s

Anyone seen these cabinets before? Not sure if they’re original. I know that these Bozak’s get a lot of love here. It’s a 3.5hr drive each way, but for the low asking price of $200 I’m thinking it’s worth my while.

What would you pay for these?

Side note: they would be looked at to replace my JBL P30’s as well as a standalone sub. What differences can I expect in listening to the Bozak’s? This will be my entry to pre-90’s speakers if I get them.

They came in a wide variety of cabinets. Hyfi's pair look like Urbans. There was also Moorish. The ones you posted look like French Provincial, not sure if they made them. Frequently there was a console unit made to match. I think that company was called Barzilay. Around New England a pair of 302's would only get $275-$350.

The Urbans are beautiful. The closest match I can find is the French Provincial as you mentioned, but even in the brochure it looks slightly off... possibly an early iteration of the cabinet? I’m aware these likely have the paper mid and tweeter cones which are not as sought after. It’s between these and a pair of Ohm G2’s that are twice as much (and twice as far)

Bozaks have a very warm and rich sound, I think you'll enjoy them. Look into the crossover rebuilds and mods that are well documented in various places on AK.

Those enclosures don't look familiar, they might be some aftermarket thing. It wasn't uncommon back then to buy some nice cabinets and load them with drivers of your choice. Have you seen pictures of the drivers? The later aluminum mids and tweets are supposed to be more desirable than the earlier paper cone mids and tweets.

I love Bozaks, but I'm not sure I'd make a 7 hour round trip for them. The price seems decent enough.

I also had a pair of Rectilinear Lowboy 3s rotate thru here several month back and think they sounded better than the pair of Bozaks in the above pics. Slightly smaller cabinets.

I'm a big jbl fan and owned/own many of their speakers.

The p30 are from the down fall era of traditional high end jbl. But honestly I bet they still sound great. Even the many jbl speakers from the not amazing era I owned still sound great.

I've also had the pleasure of owning a pair of bozak 302 speakers and I was really impressed by them. Imo bozak speakers are some of the best bang for $ vintage speakers one can find. They were very well made and sound amazing imo.

I personally would say so long as the seller knows all the drivers work and are not beat up I'd grab em at $200. I cant imagine doing better at 200 for the quality and sound.

I know this will sound crazy to some but those 302a are similar in size to altec Valencia speakers, which I also owned. And if I had to pick one to listen with I'd rather have the 302a. They do full range better imo.

To each their own.

I appreciate all the advice... I’m passing on the Bozak’s after all in favor of some Ohm Model G’s I found for a great deal.
The Bozak’s are now highly sought after on my list, but I think I’ll wait for one in a cabinet I like better.

Wow dont see Model G speakers often around here at all.

I had their smaller 3 way book shelf and I thought they sounded great. Im sure that massive G is damn impressive.

Yeah Id need a shoot out between the Bozak and G to decide which stayed home.

Great find man!

I know its an older post from 5 years ago. These i bought at an auction house. There were no bids, so just tucked away in a back corner on floor. Just happened to see it, and asked if these were being auctioned again. They said no. So, i asked if they were for sale? He said yes, looked on his phone, and told me the price. Under 200.00. It also had an Empire 398 turntable tucked inside, and 3 newer Sony pieces. These are the Provincial cabinets.
