My father in law has a pair of these that have been in his attic for years. He knew someone in his college days with them and found a pair at an estate sale years ago that he bought because he remembered loving them in those days. He got a Mcintosh tuner/pre and power amp as well but never set them up. His son took the Mac stuff and left the 75lb speakers in the attic. He's cleaning out the house to sell now and wants to get rid of the speakers and asked me if I knew what they are worth.

As far as I know they are in working condition. Assuming they do work, anyone have an opinion on a ballpark worth?

attaching the pics he sent me. He's in CT I'm on the west coast.

In New England I would say $200 or so.
Generally the 401 is considered slightly inferior to the 302(a) because it's a similar driver set in a smaller cabinet, and 302 prices seem to hover around $225-250.

thanks for that. do you have any idea what would be ideal to drive these? do they need a lot of power. thinking of sending my father in law a little digital amp to test them out.
