Bozak LS-200 - Score?

Hello all,

I picked up a pair of Bozak LS-200 bookshelf speakers the other day based on their unusual driver design; the cones, I think, are made of metal (!!). I've been listening to them for a few hours now, and the bass leaves something to be desired, but the treble on these speakers is fantastic. I've heard Bozak mentioned on AK before, but I don't remember in what context; I can't find out anything about them either. Does anyone have any info?

These are late model speakers, post classic period and consnsus is that they are less than steller performers. Yes, the tweeter is a coated aluminum cone driver. Rudy developed the first decent metal cone drivers of audio quality. For a better late period Bozak you need to look at the LS250 but to get into the real Bozak sound, you need to go a bit older and look for a 302a or 300 that represent the smallest box Rudy's famed woofer would adequately work in. None of the Bozaks have a bass that is the rock 'n roll thumping overemphasized bass but is well balanced to the speaker and in a decently balanced presentation. The differences is more how far down they will go in the spectrum.

Bozaks

I've got both the LS 250s and the 302As. Both sound pretty good, but I would choose the 302As which, in my opinion, have broader and deeper bass and a better stereo spatial presentation. However, the LS 250s (mine date from 1981, I believe) were quite a bargain at The Salvation Army, and sound fine.
