So.. I went to pick up a pair of ADS L1230's.. and the guy who had them said they belonged to his father, who had passed, and he was a big ADS fan and collector. While I was there he showed me this pair of Braun L200/8's and since I was interested in ADS speakers and knew a fair bit about them he pitched selling them to me for cheap. At first I passed, but he made a second attempt and I caved. I gave him $50 for them and they are in very nice condition. They each weigh about 10 lbs.. and appear to be a metal cabinet. So.. couple weeks goes by.. and all of a sudden I have a buzzing in one of my little Klipsch computer speakers. My first inclination was to get a receiver or integrated amp so I could hook up some real speakers... Then a light bulb went off in my head. What if I cut the wires off the Klipsch speakers and just hook up those Braun's.. 15-20 minutes later and I am sitting there with my mouth hanging open at how good they sound. Listening to some Chris Stapleton and his voice is absolutely magical coming from these speakers. This is the smallest speaker in my collection and I am just stunned. The Klipsch computer sound system has a little 6" sub, a built in plate amp and a volume/bass control. I have no idea how many watts it makes but it sounds fantastic. The little sub is pretty hokey.. but it takes up very little space, and cost me nothing to rig up. And to say it's an improvement over the factory speakers that were connected to it would be understating it by orders of magnitude. After a little while of listening to them laying on their sides on my desk I got out some stands and set them up flanking my desk and the drivers are exactly at ear level. Just wow... freaking wow. For a dimuntive little 2-way speaker to impress me this much.. is rare. I've heard and had some 2-way systems and never really liked any of them.. but this is different. I know there is a sub.. so it's really more of a 3-way now... but yeah. If you get a chance at a pair of these and you have a need for them.... do not hesitate. They will not dissapoint you.
