Braun L810 specs

Wondering if anyone has the specs on the Braun (not ADS) version of the 810s? I'm most curious about the sensitivity. There are specs listed on the radiomuseum site but I don't know if it's accurate because it has 8ohms (instead of 4ohms) in the impedance section. Nothing on the Braun forum that I can find.

I did just find this spec list associated with a current ad for the very early ADS version (which appears to use Braun parts minus the cabinet and cast basket woofers):

I found a little bit of info for you Jon, not much:

Braun L 810
Production years: 1969 - 1972

Tweeter = 25mm soft dome, Type LC 3
Midrange = 50mm soft dome, Type LC 5

Frequency range: 20hz - 25khz.
Crossover points: 550hz - 4khz
Impedance: 4 ohms

Now, the L 810/1 that came out in 1974 has the same specs except for having a LC 20/4 woofer and is shown with a sensitivity of 88db @ 2w/3m. So one would have to know the watts/volts@distance that the ADS was measured at to compare, and sadly no, I can't do the math on that if for instance the ADS was measured at 2.83v/1m as 4 ohm speakers often are.

The LC 3 tweeter is one that is new to me but I did find this scan:

So it has a 25mm dome, 30w rating when crossed @ 1500hz, 60w rating when crossed @ 3000hz, 8 ohm impedance.

Yes! They are currently hooked up to a 2285b. Really impressed but I’m being careful and doing mostly low level listening (my first set of 4ohm speakers).

This particular Stereo Review issue listed them as Braun. The original L810A was built by ADS using Braun drivers and crossover networks under license from Braun.

The evolution of the 810 was described by Dr. Guenther himself in the following letter:

I use mine the L810A series on 60 watt tube mono blocks..The original Brauns ( now Canton) are not effecient and roll off ( F3 ) 45 hrz via a audio control mic reading of the room ..The A series is a studio monitor, not a floor monitor.
It's designed to be setup ear level 8-12 feet apart toed in and has a narrow dispersion band just for monitoring duty..it will handle up to 100 watt peaks, 50 RMS..This monitor has very small coil bobbins as like all early aDs it wasn't able to handle great power and it was horrible at efficiency..It really benefits from ridding the networks of the WIMA films and Electrolytic caps used in favor of paper , copper, polypropylene in oil caps, Russian RGBO for Netural balancing duty (phase shift) position...I've restored many aDs,ADS over the last 20 yrs, the 810A studio monitor is nothing like the dual chambered L810 or smaller L710 popular floor monitor..So one must know exactly what model they have., Zero markings outside...A series is the rarest, low number production and more costly new as their target base was professional use.

The Braun version has larger magnets on mid and tweet as well as cast aluminum baskets on the woofers. There is a single internal chamber inside on the Brauns while the later ADS has separate chambers. I've had the ADS L810 (bronze metal grill) in the same setup and the sonic characteristics are quite different to my ears. The Brauns are more laid back (less mid bass hump?). Could be worn out capacitors are coming into play. I'm pretty sure @baco99 ran these through an analyzer but for the life of me I can't find that post.

@LesE That letter describing the evolution of the 810s is really cool. I have never seen the "B" in the wild. I also find it interesting that the reviewer he was responding to commented on the more balanced 710 (which is definitely true).

Using this, I now run mine with a Yamaha R-1000 and an ADC EQ to bring out the mids & treble a bit. They sound very nice indeed, to me now...
