BRAUN LS-100's-Any Info ???

Captain Scary

On Island Time
I find great info on A/D/S but not so much on Braun speakers.

Anybody familiar with this model and\or is there a
similar A/D/S model?

Woofer is 10" with rubber surround,Mid is 1 3\4" (?)
and tweeter looks like maybe 3\4".

Both Mid & Tweeter say Braun,Made in Germany and the logo on top of speaker is " brAun"

Metal grilles and dimensions apprx. 18"-20" (CRS sets in) by 11 1\4"
by 11" +\-

Heavy for thier size and have beveled corners.

Picked them up with a gang of speakers and other gear at the firedept auction.

Several people eyeballing the audio stuff so I started making a pile
and saw a box that said "Kef-Cresta",figured Kef is good ,right?

While unloading the truck and treasures at home I opened the Kef box and found these Brauns.

Not dissapointed at all, they sound sweet!

Any info would be most appreciated....

Thanks,
Barry

Look like with the dome mid they would sound good. Braun has a reasonably good rep for their speaker.

BTW. Vetry cool to see a Quadaptor in a wood sleeve. Have not seen many that way.

They sound sweet!

Really enjoying them as they are quite different from
most of my vintage speaks which are from an earlier era.

Still need to audition them with some different receivers
to find that "special" combo.

Currently hooked up to a KR-5600 as my Niles speaker selector
is attached to it.

I'm guessing they would appreciate some more power though.
Will try them with a G-9700 when I get it cleaned up.

Anyone know when these were made?

Thanks,
Barry

Those are boss. Whatever you paid for them it was likely a bargain. You won't find much info on them as Braun was not directly imported into the US after ~1976. They were in Canada though & maybe where yours originally came from seeing as to where you are located.

As you'll discover, Braun (hifi division) was owned by ADS in the US. There are many similarities between models. What you have is approximately an ADS L880. The cabinet was made by the same vendor (Hados in Germany) and the crossover cups were the same although with different input terminals. The drivers are completely unique to Braun but similar to ones ADS made. All in all, an awesome find. Wish it had been me.

Info appreciated.Thanks

Thanks for the info soundmotor.

I'm sure they will sound even better when I can make space to
properly position them.

They are atop some KLH 17s on top of my bench at the moment
which puts them near the ceiling and way over my head from the
comforts of the audiolounger in the sweet spot.

Currently (continuously) rearranging the audio cave in the quest
for better acoustics after visiting SixCats and enjoying his
spacious and airy audio rooms.

Now I have a thirst for some ADS speakers!
But they are rather scarce in these parts.

Manitoilin,Yes ,that wood case on the Quadaptor is indeed lovely.
Looking forward to testing that out when I get things
rearranged,should be fun.

Cheers,
Barry

Hey hey Capt!

Man, those BRAUN's do indeed look nice! I can't wait till I get a chance to together with you over at Audio Cave and give your toys a listen! Man, and I thought that I had a lot of gear lol. BTW, I'm listening to some Classic Jazz on your NORELCO's (with my FISHER 400) as I type this note...sounds GREAT!
