Hi have a Braun PS 500 that I have refurbished and was working perfectly. Now it has a wobbly speed and seems to get worse as the record plays. It was subtle at first now it's super annoying. Any ideas on how to repair?

Hi, as you can see from my avatar I have a Braun TT also. I think the PS 500, and my PS 600 are based on Elac Miracord mechanical designs. I know my TT has the Braun strobe and electronic speed control. I am not certain but perhaps the speed control is your issue. If you refurb'd the TT, I am assuming you've already addressed the transport. Perhaps someone over with the Elac folks would have some ideas. Otherwise I'm almost out of ideas. You might check the entry of the power into the speed control/motor. Perhaps its a marginal connection. Good luck with your journey. I'm hoping it's something simple.

If the motor seems to be runnig smoothly I'd take a good look at the idler/capstan assembly and make sure everything is in good state there. Maybe you're getting some slippage from some hardened rubber or the capstan needs a good cleaning? How is the condition of the belt?
