Braun SK-6 speaker/loudspeaker

Hello all,
I am new to AK. I am looking to refurbish a Braun SK-6 and need to know the name/style of speaker that suits this model. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

The SK-6 was produced around 1960. So matching Braun loudspeakers would be the Braun L02, the L60 or if you really want to have something special the electrostatic LE1.

Thank you for your information. If I were to replace the speaker that was originally inside the SK-6, what speaker would that be. My SK-6 does not have an internal speaker and I would like to find a replacement.

How big is the cutout for the speaker? Related question: how big is the cabinet? (I'm assuming, from you question, that there is only one speaker per cabinet). Braun made full-range drivers in a variety of sizes - you should be able to find a pair on eBay.

Pictures would help, too.

I should add that those full-range drivers from Braun (and similar models from Philips and SABA) still have quite a following in some parts of the audio underground. Good luck with your project.

The speaker is oval and has only two fixings (screw holes) 263mm apart at the long ends of the speaker. There are two photographs that provide a section of the speaker in situ at:

Go on eBay and search for "braun speaker" or "SABA speaker" or "DEW speaker." I don't want to post a live link here, or this thread will be moved to "dollars and sense." I got the most hits with "DEW speaker" and "SABA speaker" respectively.

I'm pretty sure those are the type of things you're looking for - they came in both oval and round varieties, in various sizes. They have alnico magnets, and can be quite sweet-sounding. As I said earlier, they have developed a cult following, aren't as cheap as they were a few years ago ... but you should be able to find one that matches your cut out, and is probably close to what was there originally - if not an exact match. These speakers were made for tabletop or console radios, or TV sets - they'll work fine for you application.

I managed to find a pair of Telefunken oval speakers in Australia that came from a Braun SK-6 unit. Many thanks to frperdurabo and Satch for your help.
