Braun speakers model comparison

I recently obtained a Braun Atelier A1 integrated amplifier. I'm looking to buy a pair of Braun speakers to use with it.

My local shop offers me "Braun L8080HE" and "Braun LS80" with reasonable prices. But, I cannot buy them both. Still, I cannot try them with my amp and also compare them because they need to be imported from the neighbor region.

However, I have searched for their information and I will briefly show them here.

L8080HE:
- launched earlier in 1980-1982
- bigger model
- larger drivers; 10" woofer and 2" midrange dome
- older driver design (according to its brochure)
- part of Atelier 1 system (launched with Atelier A1 amplifier)
- twice the price to the LS80.

LS80:
- launched later in 1982-1986
- smaller model
- smaller drivers; 8" woofer and 1.5" midrange dome
- newer driver design (according to its brochure)
- part of Atelier 2 system (launched with Atelier A2 amplifier)
- half the price to the L8080HE.

I'd like to directly ask for your opinions, which model should I buy and why?

IMO, buying a pair of speakers just based on a brand you want, and opinions, is a bad idea. I am assuming that whatever you choose, you'll be stuck with them. Is there a particular reason that you're looking only at Braun, other than that's the brand of amp that you have? Are there no speakers available locally that intereste you?

What country and region are you in?

I second the above post. I sometimes see AK members that want matching name plates on thier systems. Maybe esthetics over how they sound. I can understand that. But brick and mortar stereo shops in Golden Age of audio, would mix and match. Based on many factors. Synergy of how they sounded together was often a priority.
In the USA, the brand ADS used imported Braun drivers in locally made cabinets. I have a few ADS models, myself.

Braun amp is best with Braun speakers, I believe. Actually, my Braun amp currently drives ADS L620 speakers as can be seen on my profile picture.

I have a pair of 1971 or 1972 brAun speakers, model L-500/1, coming from my parents who had the brAun Cockpit 250 matching amp/tuner/turntable. I was prepared to do an autopsy, but not at all : once cleaned and refurbished, they sound fine : balanced, smooth and deep, unfatiguing listening...

Unfortunately I could not preserve the metal grilles that were too damaged to be presentable, but just the logo :

I don't know those speakers, but they certainly are good items... brAun never made low grade Audio products !

But, I cannot buy them both.

Braun amp is best with Braun speakers, I believe.

That sounds like marketing speak. The best speakers are the ones that work best in your listening room. Except in very specific cases, the interaction between the amp and the speakers is minimal compared with that.

Have you heard any Braun or ADS speakers? What brands and models speakers are you familiar with? Like or don't like?

I currently live in Bangkok, Thailand.

And yes, I’ve heard ADS speakers. I own a pair of L620, L880, and L1590. But, frankly, I’ve never listened to Braun speakers before. This will be my first Braun pair if I have the opportunity to own them.

So ADS speakers made it half way around world to Bangkok.
I have L880 series 1 & 2, L470 series 2. I've driven mine with Bryston BP20 pre and 3B NRB solid state. Also, Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum KT120 tube amps. Very different sound with each.
I've not heard Braun speakers. Being an ADS owner, you likely know as much as I about those Braun speakers.
I'd purely guess you will hear the same family sound signature.

Now if you believe that Braun speakers will sound best with Braun amps. I'm not going to say your wrong.
I do think the word "best" to describe any audio setup? Well again I'm not going to dispute your views. Your entitled to your opinion.
