Can you post an "under the hood" photo of the amp? I am looking for the original electrolytic filter caps (or cans).

Did you disconnect and move the speakers recently? They may now be out-of-phase with each other.

Just a thought.
 
Problem found. I bi-wire my speakers and one of the banana jack connectors for the bass on my right speaker had come loose. The jacks I purchased for my speaker cables seemed like a good idea but in fact are not so great. I repaired this problem with some solder and now there is joy.

Great to hear, I had static coming from a speaker cable due to a screw-on banana plug (the banana plug end screwed down over the wire protruding from the lower housing). I ordered some Nakamichi banana plugs, they have two side-mounted set screws that lock the wire in place inside the housing.

That sounds like the exact banana plugs I have. They are supposed to be pressure connections, where a slightly tapered node on the upper banana part squashes down on the wire coming up from the bottom part. This seems to come loose very easily. I just soldered this tapered node to the wire. All good now
