Brought home some Quartets, crossover cap suggestions?

Hello,

I'm Super stoked to pick up clean a pair of Klipsch Quartets. I'm always watching the ads for deals and this pair came up, I couldn't resist. The owner put these in his listing room some 25 years ago and never moved them. I went to take the grills off and they were kind of stuck, he said he never took the grills off before.

I don't have many options in positioning but they sound really good.

I'm thinking about updating the crossover capacitors. I used the Axon Ture caps in my KG 3.5 and 3.2 and the results were pretty good. I see Crites offers Daytons as their budget option so that's a good upvote for Dayton.

Great find! I've been a lookin, if I were you I would use very good caps. I think that model is the sweet spot for Klipsch speakers. I wish I could find a pair like that.

I think you're right, these are probably worth using the more premium caps than I did on the KG's. These do seem to be in a sweet spot, kind of a big Heresy with more bass but not as big as some of the other models in that era. My KG 3.2s have passive radiators and are a bit boomy in my space. The Quartets bass is tighter. I'm liking the 3-way, definitely hearing more mid than I was with the KG 2-ways.

I agree! And I just found a loose connection inside so I fixed that. Much better now. I'll just enjoy these as they are for a while. I am tempted though, updates to my other speakers made a nice improvement.

Since fixing the loose internal connection, enjoying the Quartets every day. left them bone-stock for the moment. I have new capacitors and tweeters for them but I'm really liking these the way they are.
