BSR record changer with some tracking force issues

That turntable looks like the very first iteration sold as the Realistic Lab-12 in the late 60's by Radio Shack. They did come with a magnetic cartridge and there was a counterweight pressed into the back of tbe tonearm. There may have been a setscrew tracking adjustment under the arm, but we never touched it. The cart was supposed to track at 3-5 grams.
Yeah, there’s two screws as visible. One which caused the whole tonearm to fall apart, lol, and another which adjusts the set down.

not sure if this is exactly the same, but here's a service manual showing basically how the spring is meant to go. It doesn't make a U-bend around the back side. It should go in a straight line from the arm back to what it mounts to. THis service manual doesn't indicate an adjustment but I'd wager the setup is basically the same. Difference being the aduster knob probably moves the tab back and forth rather than it being fixed.
