Ain't this boogie a mess
I was lucky enough to hear that he was playing Wednesday Night at the Beaumont Club, that I was able to treat my wife to some Zydeco.
He has assembled a group of accomplished pros to accompany him - two guitars, a bass, a trumpet, a terrific drummer and a washboard, with Buckwheat on the accordian or B-3.
Buckwheat it a natural entertainer - not the greatest singer in the world, but someone who knows how to work a crowd. He is far more than adequate on the accordian. For me, the show went to another level when he performed a few numbers on the Hammond B-3. We don't hear nearly enough music performed on that magnificent instrument. Dear Lord, please don't let that music fade from our consciousness. There is just nothing like the pulsations flowing from the organ when someone like Buckwheat just attacks the keys. Those few songs on the B-3 were enough for me to be satisfied with the entire show.
