Budget Amp Comparison: NAD vs Cambridge

Has anyone listened to both the NAD C-316BEE and the Cambridge 350A? I need to replace my old Nikko, and not spend too much. TT is Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with 2M Red, phono pre is Cambridge 551p, and the speakers are Wharfedale Diamond 9.0s (upgrading to 10.1s soon). Thanks.

I have never listend to the amps in question, but I did a little checking myself and it looks like the NAD would be my choice here. I was courious about budget Amps myself. NAD, like many Manufactures of audio gear has produced products that were no better than average to some really good buy's. It looks like the C-316BEE is in the later group.

That said your old Niko is likely no sloutch and might give these two a good run in terms of SQ. You might consider saving a bit more cash for something like Rega's Brio-R or a better NAD which should make a more noticable improvement than the C-316BEE. You've got some Nice gear there, I think it deserves more than Budget Amplification. Just a thought.

Can't do it, unfortunately. Other financial priorities. And I just knew that buying a new TT would start me down this slippery slope! ;)

The Nikko might be great, but I can't really say that until I compare it to something else. The sound I'm getting now is better than I've ever had, but I can hear some areas where it is choked. I just have to identify them by switching out components.
