Budget pc speakers?

I went shopping for some pc speakers to my dissapointment no one had working demos. So I went ahead and bought the altec lansing vs2221 tho I find them a bit "bright" and to much of a gap from when the sats start and the sub kicks in. I will admit for $40 it's alot of sound but I am wondering is there anything better for $50 or less? btw I am short on space so I will need 2.1.

Personally, I would get some Presidian speakers from Radio Shack for 39.99 and a Sonic T-amp (around $30). You will be hard pressed to find a better, cheaper solution.
