Budget Stereo Receiver Recommendations

I think the fact that you're having trouble with your existing unit should rule out vintage. The options with your budget should be new or lightly used from within the last ten years. Or get your existing unit serviced. You could buy a doesy of a vintage unit with that budget and find yourself in the exact same position if it needs service as well. And that'd be after money spent.

I was very happy with my Marantz 2230 and it had all the features you will need. Sold it only because where my equipment is I can't get any FM stations
