Building a system around a McIntosh MC2505

Hi folks

I am in the process of building a second system based around a vintage McIntosh MC2505. Basically, I am after some suggestions for a suitable pre and speakers. I do have a pair of Heresies but I find them a tad aggressive with solid state (compared to when I use them with my vintage Quad IIs), and I have tried using a Conrad Johnson PV10 as a pre but that did not make for a happy combo.

So calling all Mc2505 users, what do you use with yours?

As always thanks for your input

All best

My first separates were the 2105, mq101, and c28.
I was one happy teenager with a great sounding system. :music:

Those older mac components need some work to make them sing now.
I do like the c32 as a stand in for the c28.

1st choice for me is a MX110 tuner/preamp. 2nd choice for me is a MX110 tuner/preamp. 3rd choice is a MX112. The synergy with the 1st gen Mc SS amps and the tube preamps was amazing. So, I'd opt for a C11 or 22 thoguh I was extremely happy with my C28 mated to the monmetered version of the 2505 for some 4 decades as my main system.
