BURHOE model silver

Anybody know anything about a pair of BURHOE model silvers? All I know is they are rare, have some wear and tear on them, and need stripped down and restored. They sound great paired up with my pioneer sx980. Can't find anything about them online.

All I can tell you is probably what you already know. Burhoe speakers was started up by Wilfred Burhoe of EPI. I know of at least three other models; Blue, Green and White. I had a pair of Blue's that didn't have the original woofers but still sounded very good. You may want to check with Mr. Powell over at Human Speakers which specializes in EPI speakers but may have insight on your speakers.
 
I like the Burhoe speakers a lot and strongly suggest checking out Human Speakers about some restoration ideas. One thing for sure, the large inverted dome tweeters are super hard to come across, but worth seeking out.

"Winslow" Burhoe worked under Ed Villchur and with Roy Allison at AR, INVENTED the dome tweeter, founded EPI/Epicure, designing the vast majority of the speakers and all of the best sounding ones, founded Burhoe Acoustics, & Direct Acoustics, worked for Energy (designing their best sounding speakers ever).

Aquired a set of M202 speakers which had been used very hard, still, the quality of the original design comes through. First speaker is almost done, and I can't say enough for the simplicity and efficacy of the concept and implementation.

Rebuilding the crossover was a piece of cake, as was moving the speaker terminals from the bottom to the back (new Cardas copper). Just need to re-cover the grills and #1 will be done. Can't waite to start on #2, utilizing what I learned from doing #1!

Hi - Yes, I've owned a pair of Burhoe Silver's since 1980. I bought them in Bend, Oregon and had the woofers replaced around 1995. They are large, angled, have a whole on the bottom that projects the sound when elevated. They sound tremendous.
