Have anyone tried to purchase vintage gear from yahoo japan auction?

No... I've bought small items like pens from Yahoo Japan, using SMJ (Shopping Mall Japan). Anything big like audio equipment will incur some serious shipping charges. And forget about being able to deal with the seller if anything turns out wrong... So, I'd caution against it.
