Buzz sound with Sansui Belt Drive SR 2020 BC

Hi,

I have a Sansui Belt Drive SR 2020 BC turntable that I play onto an amp (Technics SU Z-200). My issue is a buzz sound can often be heard when I play records. I starts when the needle hits the record, not before. I thought I would need to plug in the Ground cable, but the one coming out of the turntable is attached to the red RCA cable.

Any idea on how to fix this issue?

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

Attach the ground wire to the ground wire post on the Technics amp. :music:
 
Sounds like it's already grounded provided the RCA's on the amp are "not" floating ground.

So I've tried plugging in the Turntable to a friend's more vintage amp, and there was no hum. The only difference is that on his amp I was able to plug in the RCA male (with ground wire attached) all the way, where on my more 'modern' amp, I can't plug it in all the way. Could it be that my RCA are too old for the amp's female? Should I just change the RCA cables?
