I bought a c-26 off of Ebay.Seller said he didn't know if it worked or not but it did light up.The glass was broken in shipping. Got a substantial partial refund. The thing is,that the lights dont work.I pulled them out and they are all blown .I powered it up for a little while. It is getting 110 to the transformer, I measured it at the diodes side. One of the main can caps has a little powder coming out of the bottom in the middle. Everything else looks good and original. Haven't done anything else .Had a wrong fuse in that forgot to check until after I fired it up.They had a 15 amp in place. Hope to fix it up.Would like some advise before I fire it up again...thanks Robert

Well one reason for it not lighting up is all the bulbs seem to be missing. That, along with the fact that someone put a 15 amp fuse in it indicates it might have some more serious issues that require attention. The white powder on the filter capacitor is certainly an indication that it's bad.

I'd also look at the voltage regulator output transistor with a bit of suspicion, I had a shorted one in my C27. Unfortunately it's in an old TO66 package which is no longer made, but you might be able to find a NTE replacement or use a TO220 transistor.

Before you power it up again, check the resistance to ground from pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 on the power supply board. If you see anything appreciably under 500 ohms you have a short somewhere. Second thing would be to replace those can capacitors.

Service manual is here: http://akdatabase.com/AKview/albums/userpics/10004/C26 Service Manual.pdf

if you were closer, i'd have you bring it over. i've worked on a couple (and c28, ...). I really like my c26 and know you will like it once it is working. Terry has posted a few updates too.

I checked the pins,# 6and 7 where way low.Wires ran to one of the can caps.I ordered the capacitors. The transistor checked out ok in circuit, will remove and check again.I removed the blown bulds before the picture was taken.I did put in my address. I live in the middle of a cotton field, miles from nowhere. Not much chance getting any physical help here.
Actually I am about 150 miles south of Memphis.I have read everything I could find in the forum about the C-26.Will report back when I get parts, may take awhile .Thanks for the responses, got a good starting point...Robert
