C20 power supply, Telefunken tubes?

Leaning hard towards a C20. Would the power supply use tube rectification? It’s one of the earlier models. Guessing solid stare rectifier power supplies didn’t come until later?

Thanks brother. I know the thing these days is conversion to SS. It’s probably more reliable. Thoughts on that affecting sound?

Leave it stock. The 6X4 will last for a decade or more and modifying for SS rectification will not improve the sound quality and will degrade it's resale value.

Hello

I will say again , and again , why making modifications (which are not really any upgrade at all ) on working units ?

The fellow I’m looking at buying from goes through them before selling. He does caps, cleaning, etc. before I make up my mind I wanna go into it asking the right questions. I like to keep things original but I also understand caps leak/test out of spec and need to be replaced. I have a Dynaco PAS 3. People tend to go SS in power supply. I never did but I know many do.

You can buy it (untouched) and replace the capacitors (who need to be replaced) by Authenticap capacitors and you will keep it closer to original configuration , and you will not be disapointed !
You will not degrade it's resale value ;)

If you have no habit to do it , give the unit to a good tech , there is verey high voltages in the power supply .
Refix a C20 is not a game or a hobby , this job require high quality tech

a wrong connection or a short will give drastic results

I have an electronics background. It’s not in audio gear though. I’m good to work through schematics but if this preamp is complex I don’t wanna destroy something cutting my teeth on it.
