C2300 opportunity

I bought my 124 w/o an arm. Another member suggested a STAX UA7 as a starting point that was inexpensive and I am still using it. I have to say, I really like it! The cueing mechanism works great, it’s easy to set tracking force and can accommodate my heavier Denon 103s that have been modified with paradox pulse bodies. It takes a standard SME headshell so changing carts is a snap now that I have premounted them all. I don’t really intend to change it any time soon.
That is a nice arm! Very elegant, I’d never heard of them before. I’ve been using SME 3009 and like that as well.

Big bummer, lost out on the C2300 :(

Oh well. I may just have to go check out Tom's site and see what he has available...

It wasn't possible to see any of the equipment in person or test it prior to bidding, the final price wasn't bad compared to what I found recent ones have sold for on other sites, but without knowing actual condition it was hard to drop thousands of dollars site unseen. The photos of the C2300 and the other equipment showed that it all needed work cosmetically and it looked as though it hadn't been used in years. Maybe if I had been able to see in person and test functions it would have been worth it, but I am not a gambler!

There is a place by me that auctions old stereo equipment once in a while. Generally I see them going for fair or mostly too high of a price - but never a good deal. Definitely the right call to pass if you couldn't even get a look at it.
