C28 stereo, right channel not working

Greetings, I purchased my first vintage hifi setup this weekend and I'm having a few hiccups on my way to having a reliable system. I own a Mcintosh C28 and MC250 which I would like to be able to use everyday. I'm hoping to get to that point on my own with little further investment.

My problem is that when playing records in stereo the right channel isn't responding (most of the time). When I use mono I get good response from both speakers, and this true regardless of the amp I use so I know the problem is in the pre. Also noteworthy is that this only began to happen after about 8 hours of use, and from the beginning I had to use control cleaner on the balance pot because the right channel was giving out unless i played with the knob just right. The cleaner worked for those first 8 or so hours, and the balance functions flawlessly.

So I can tell that something is wrong in the right channel stereo circuit somewhere. I'm hoping that some type of cleaner or deoxidizer will get me going again but I'm just not that familiar with the stuff and how/where to use it. Any help is greatly appreciated! My hunch is that its a very simple fix if I know where to look.
