C39 help

I just picked up a c39 preamp. Great sound but, this unit has a hum coming from the unit itself. You cannot hear it through the speakers only through the unit itself. Do the transformers in the c39 go bad? Anything I can check without taking it in? The 2105 amp is dead quiet when you turn it on. I was suprised to hear hum from the c39

Open the top and listen to the transformer. It's normal for a transformer to vibrate (buzz).

yes but not so loud that you can hear it between songs from 10 feet away. I guess its going into the repair shop.

.....currently have a C39 and love it....great pre-amp for 5.1....you can attenuate the volume of the surrounds against the mains' and center's volume using the remote....also, it gives a much better soundstage than my C26, with a more accurate stereo effect with better imaging and more air....much cleaner than the C26 as well....the signals from the surrounds are automatically cut within at both ends, 127 hz-6.3K hz....imo, that's perfect range for surrounds as they wrap the front soundstage around to almost your sides, with the low-end beef and the top tweeter-twinkle still coming strong from the front soundstage....s/n--100db below, plenty....distortion--.005%.....

Thanks for the reply. I will call tomorrow and see if deltronics here in IL can look at it. I just got it last week and it sounds great except for the buzz is driving me crazy!

The one thing i do love about this unit, the sub out works on 2 channel. I am running jm labs 815 and on some music I like a sub with them. With this pre, i just hit the sub switch on the back and im golden. The switch on the back though instead of the front, is a pain sometimes but there is not too many good 2 ch units that have one. Most of the HT pre's i ran across the sub out crossover only worked in HT mode. or they just didnt sound right.

.....the C39 is a performer, 5.1 or 2.1....I take one pair of main outs to active crossovers, and take the pre-cut surround signals from the C39 directly to amp sections.....
