c46 remote control programming trouble

Hi,

I just tried to program a C46 remote to control an MCD500 CD player-I can't get it to work no matter what I try. The documentation refers to an older remote than what came with the unit. I tried entering in the remote codes for McIntosh CD player listed on the pdf and it won't take any of the codes.

I'm holding the CODE SET buton down until the led blinks twice then typing in the code for a McIntosh CD player- The LED is supposed to blink twice if it accepts the code.. I tried all kinds of codes and the LED never blinks twice.
For example McIntosh Code: 30256
Taken from page 12 of this:
http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/downloads/product_manuals/HR70_Remote_Control_Addendum.pdf

I even tried the LEARN function by typing 975 after holding CODE SET button down. When I hit the button to be programmed the led starts the rapid blinking but when I point the other remote and hold the desired button down the c46 remote doesn't take the command either..

Am I missing something very simple here?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yes you are missing something simple, connect a DATA cable from CD Data out on C46 to data in on MCD500. Your C46 remote will now control your MCD500.

See page 10 of C46 owner's manual. Data cables are 1/8" or 3.5mm male to male.

Thanks for tips! I'll give that a try soon..
Why have a CODE SET button and remote device codes if the remote won't accept them though?
Seems strange I can't even get a button to 'learn' a new function.

Code set is used to mix MX and C series products when Pass Through is used. This is not what you are doing though.

Thanks,
