Cabasse Sampan 303 mk13?

MODS, could you change the title to "Sampan 311 mk13"?


Hi all,

I picked up a pair of these just today. Literally everything I can find about them is in French and does not translate well. Anybody have any experience or info on them? I don't know which version these are, the tag on the back is handwritten and badly faded.

I hooked them up and they sound very nice. A LOT of bass, but warm and full sounding. They weigh an absolute ton for not being solid wood. Obviously the surrounds need to be replaced eventually, but the tweeters and mids perform very well.

Actually, I think these are 311s, not 303. I just google Sampan and 303 came up. They look almost identical, and honestly, who writes "1" like that????!?

Very nice indeed. Too bad some kid got to the dust caps and tweeter domes. You may be able to remove the tweeter diaphragm from the motor and restore the dome's shape with your finger. Try the shop vac approach for the woofer dust cap.

Very nice speakers. I think Zalytron used to sell Cabasse drivers, I may still have an old catalog with the specs somewhere.
