Hello to the AK family ! ,I have been restoring vintage receivers and amps for a while now for myself and close audio friends and up to now had rejected working on those with power packs for output transistors. I have started in on a JVC JA-S55 for a friend and it has shorted power pack outputs as tested on DBT staying bright and testing pins 2-3 and 8-9 etc.
I picked up a pair of STK-0070 power packs as a slight upgrade seeing this as a possibility in this forum and got them from the "we have that item" folks on the bay. Was planning on replacing the circuit protection IC 7317p and doing a basic recap. I am most interested in what to do beyond that , was considering the emitter resistors, the 0.47 ohm ones and am thinking most of the wide specs for voltage are just because these power packs do most of the heavy lifting on bias etc. I am much more used to bias and dc offset numbers being tightly defined.
I am all ears and thank you for reading this post !
