Cambridge CXC plays only CDs - no MP3 discs

It finally arrived - a new Cambridge CXC transport to feed a new Schitt Modi 5 .. I am thrilled with the sound. Later, I found a CD-R disc of MP3s of songs from the 70's.

Imagine my surprise when it wouldn't play - I tried another - same rejection .. this was unexpected, as I assumed it would work just like all the other CD players..

investigating further, I discovered from their website:
The following formats and disc types are not supported:

• SACD (Super Audio CD)
• MP3 discs
• WMA discs
• CD-ROM discs
• Data discs containing audio files

FWIW burning to MP3s to CD format does work and playback is beautiful..

Cxc is very optimised for cd playback.

And I love the way it plays the CDs I can listen to the MP3s in the car or through the streamer ..
